Roque’s Weekly Review for 09/11/19

Yet another week has passed. I am in the middle of my third week of class. By now, I have reconnected with several friends on campus, and I have acclimated my life to my four days of classes every week.

I have a couple of small announcements today. First of all, I have officially joined the world of Goodreads. I am slowly populating my profile with as many of the books I have read as my memory will allow. It seems like a good place to document my life as a bibliophile and a way to find new books to devour. You can find me on Goodreads and befriend me by clicking here:

Secondly, I have signed on to be a writer with the site Medium(dot)com. For the time being, I will be adapting the writings from my blog Tropical Shade of Green to publish onto this site, and beyond my time as a college student, I hope to contribute more. If you are a subscriber to Medium, I’ll be announcing my first article soon.

Featured Work

This week, I wanted to showcase some recent photography I did at the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens in Sarasota, FL last month. We got to tour the grounds and eat a delicious snack in their cafe. This is the first batch of photos I wanted to share. I will have more next week.

They had a gorgeous bonsai garden right near the main entryway.

There were also different ponds and waterfalls sprinkled throughout the property.

Lush tropical greenery runs along every pathway along the tour. They must have had hundreds of varieties of plants on display.

This particular air plant was an absolute standout!

Thanks for checking out this update! I’ll have more photos from this botanical garden and my recent Florida trip next week!

I hope you find beauty wherever it is that you roam.
