Roque’s Weekly Review for 7/10/19

Another week has passed through this warm and misty summer we’ve been having here in middle Tennessee. I go for long walks in our hollow. I read books and cuddle with my cat whenever possible.

We do not have the sounds of cars rushing by, honking horns, and airplanes forging paths out into the sky. Instead, we have the lengthy discourse of birds, the mating calls of frogs, and the song of wind simmering through the leaves of trees. I acknowledge all of this as often as I can because I am sincerely grateful for this music that surrounds me.

Speaking of music, I’ve spent the last few days making final preparations for a performance at a wedding for two friends of mine. In addition to arranging and practicing the actual songs, there are technical (gear, outfit, etc.) and logistical (address, directions, set-up times, etc.) details to map out. The groom has picked out three lovely songs for me to play, and I am looking forward to it.

This week, I wanted to showcase a little musical adventure I went on a while back. As many of you know, I am a pianist at my core. This is the part of my life that both enlivens and challenges me the most. Here is some old footage I recently found of me performing a cover of Michael Jackson’s classic 80’s hit Billy Jean.

Enjoy . . .

Here are a couple of recent blog posts. I publish every week on Sundays.

That’s all for this week’s review! I hope you enjoyed my dorktastic performance of Billy Jean. Tomorrow, I perform at a small wedding ceremony at a very pretty location. It’s going to be a sweet and memorable day.

Enjoy your week folks.
